For anyone not familiar with the moto or FMX world, this is a HUGE event for athletes in this industry. So now we are moving on to the Pala Casino in Pala, California where the AFMXA awards are taking place. Seeing Christmas decorations hanging about in street lights is a bit foreign to these Chicago natives as well.
It’s a bit strange to walk the streets decorated in cacti and palms, gravel instead of snow covered grass lawns while listening to “Baby It’s Cold Outside” coming from a nearby speaker when it is obviously 65 degrees and sunny. However, Temecula is a little more “up to date” and open for business. What the hotel front desk clerk referred to as “downtown” Temecula, is basically a small ghost town that reminds me of Virginia City, Montana.
(OMG!) We cranked up some tunes and tried to entertain ourselves, but it was an epic fail. My associate Matt Derda and I have finally reached Temecula after a grueling 2 1/2 hour drive through traffic on the 5.
